Give Your Puppy and Yourself the Best Start Together

Training a puppy is one of the most important investments you can make to build a strong, lasting, and harmonious relationship with your dog. The first months of a puppy's life are crucial in laying the foundation for future behavior and cooperation. By setting the right conditions and creating positive experiences, you can help your puppy become a confident and well-balanced adult dog.

Why is puppy training important?
Puppy training is not just about teaching your dog to sit, lie down, or come when called. It’s equally about helping your puppy understand the world around them and develop the skills needed to navigate daily life in a positive way. Puppy training also strengthens the bond between you and your puppy, where you become a trusted leader and resource that the puppy can rely on.
A puppy that is trained early learns to communicate and cooperate with their owner, leading to fewer problems in the future. A well-trained puppy feels confident in different environments, can handle new situations, and grows into a happy and self-assured dog.

As a puppy owner, you may encounter some challenges, but with proper preparation and patience, these can be addressed constructively:

Biting and chewing: Puppies explore the world with their mouths, which often leads to chewing on furniture, hands, or clothes. By providing appropriate chew toys and redirecting this behavior, you can reduce unwanted biting. Overtiredness and overstimulation: Puppies can become overtired and excitable if they don’t get enough rest. This can result in excessive and difficult-to-manage behavior. By scheduling regular rest periods and short, frequent training sessions, you can keep your puppy balanced. Recall: One of the most important skills your puppy needs to learn is to come when called. Start early by practicing recall, rewarding your puppy every time they come to you, even if it's just in the living room. Making recall a positive and fun experience will help ensure success.

Puppy training is an exciting and rewarding process that helps you build a deep and strong connection with your dog. By focusing on positive reinforcement, patience, and consistency, you can give your puppy the best possible start to a happy and secure life with you. It’s never too early to start training, and by making it fun and motivating, you can create a happy and harmonious puppy that loves to cooperate with you.

Training a puppy is a fascinating and educational journey that requires patience, understanding, and the right tools. Puppies are like little explorers, full of curiosity and energy. But their ability to understand and handle new situations is limited compared to adult dogs. That’s why it’s essential to provide your puppy with a stable foundation early in life to create security and build a strong bond. Participating in a puppy course gives you, as the dog owner, the knowledge and tools needed to give your puppy the best possible start in life.

Whether you are a new dog owner or it's been a while since you had a puppy, my puppy courses are designed to give you insights into the most important areas to focus on during the first months. The course will teach you how to train your puppy in a positive and effective way and how to build a solid foundation for your puppy's future development.

Have You Just Welcomed a Puppy into Your Home?

If you have recently welcomed a puppy into your family, my puppy courses are the perfect start for both of you. The course focuses on building confidence in both you and your puppy through positive reinforcement and reward-based training methods. The goal is to create a harmonious relationship based on the puppy’s natural playfulness, curiosity, and desire to cooperate. And most importantly – we’ll have fun throughout the process!

Course Structure

The structure and content of the courses can vary depending on which course you choose and the course start. I limit the number of participants to 6 puppies per course to ensure that each puppy and owner receives personal coaching and attention. The courses are held outdoors in a calm and safe environment that promotes the puppy's learning.

The Whole Family Is Welcome

The dog is part of the family, so all family members are welcome to participate in the course at no extra cost. This gives everyone in the family the opportunity to learn more about building a secure and positive relationship with the puppy.

Examples of Course Content:

  • Relaxation and calmness: Train your puppy to relax both at home and in new environments, reducing the risk of stress.
  • Environmental training: Expose your puppy to different environments and situations to build confidence.
  • Positive handling: Teach your puppy to be handled in a way that reduces stress, especially important during vet visits and at home.
  • Contact exercises: Strengthen communication between you and your puppy through exercises that motivate attention and cooperation.
  • Breaking unwanted behaviors: Use positive methods to redirect and replace unwanted behaviors in a gentle way.
  • Leash training: Train your puppy to walk nicely on a leash without pulling.
  • Recall: Teach your puppy to come to you quickly and happily when called, even in distracting situations.
  • Mental stimulation and activation: Provide your puppy with fun and challenging activities that stimulate both body and mind.
  • Socialization: Introduce your puppy to other dogs and people to develop good social skills.

Why Start Early?

The earlier you start training your puppy, the better foundation you provide for them to grow into a confident, balanced adult dog. Puppies that receive early training are better equipped to handle stressful situations and are more receptive to learning new things.

When Can You Start?

You can start the puppy course as soon as your puppy is at least 9 weeks old. The puppy must have received its first vaccination at 7–8 weeks, and its mother should be fully vaccinated. If your puppy is older than 6 months, my basic training courses may be a better fit. For more information on vaccination and disease prevention, visit the Swedish Veterinary Institute’s website.
